Seniors Andy Bickel and Eric Eversole were named to the D3Kicks.com All-South Region Second-Team announced this morning. It has been one of several post-season honors for both players who have wrapped up brilliant careers at Roanoke.
Both were a major part of the team's success in 2007, winning the ODAC Tournament Championship, an NCAA automatic berth and their first NCAA Tournament home match since 2004. It was the second NCAA-berth for the senior class and the third in the school's history.
Bickel, a senior defender from Towson, Md. was also voted All-ODAC First-Team last month in addition to VaSID All-State First-Team and NSCAA Second-Team All-South Region two weeks ago. He was an All-ODAC honorable mention selection last season. The team captain was part of a senior class that earned two NCAA Appearances and two ODAC Titles. He started all 17 games played and had a total of four points on the season. His only goal of the season was a game-winner vs. Eastern Mennonite (9/21). He was credited with two assists; one vs. Emory & Henry (9/19) and at Guilford in the final game of the regular season (10/23).
Eversole, a senior midfielder from Blacksburg, Va. was also voted All-ODAC First-Team last month and VaSID All-State First-Team along with NSCAA Second-Team All-South Region honors two weeks ago.
