Michael Stark named Men's Soccer's ODAC Player of the Week
Senior Michael Stark (Newport News, VA, Menchville) was named men's soccer's ODAC Player of the Week announced this afternoon. He is the first Maroon to garner the weekly honor twice in a career, including the 16th player to earn the award for the men's soccer program.
Stark, a team captain for the second-straight season, earned his second ODAC POW honor this season. He scored the game-winning goal with just over two minutes remaining in a 1-0 win against in-state foe, Averett. The two-time NSCAA All-American then scored the game-winner in a 2-0 victory over ODAC-rival Randolph-Macon last Saturday.
In 11 starts this season, Stark has totaled a team-best three goals with one assist for seven points. As a defender, he also leads the Maroons in shots (20) and game-winners with three. The leader of the defensive unit, the Maroons have produced eight shutouts this fall. For his career, Stark has played and started in all 53 games during his three-year career, totaling 11 goals, two assists with 69 shots, 25 on goal.
Roanoke will travel on Wednesday, Oct. 6 to take on Bridgewater in ODAC action. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. at Jopson Field.
