Lee and Stark named NSCAA All-South-Atlantic Region
Seniors Cameron Lee (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring) and Michael Stark (Newport News, VA, Menchville) were named to the 2010 NSCAA/ Performance Subaru NCAA Div. III All-South-Atlantic Region team announced this afternoon. It's the second-straight year that the Maroons have had multiple players represented on the all-region squad.
Lee, a defender on this year's unit, led the backfield that tied the school-record with 14 shutouts. A three-year starter for the Maroons, Lee finished his final year with a goal and an assist while posting a career-best 11 shots. He was a three-time All-ODAC selection, earning back-to-back first-team accolades.
Stark, a team captain this fall, anchored a defense that finished the year ranked among the best in the nation in goals against average and shutout percentage. The three-year starter is an NSCAA All-Region and a First-Team All-ODAC selection for the third-consecutive season. He led the Maroons in scoring this season with 16 points and in goals with six along with six game-winners. The two-year team captain was second in assists (4), shots (31) and shots on goal (12). Stark was named ODAC Player of the Week twice, the first time a Maroon soccer player has garnered the weekly award more than once in a season.
The Maroons finished the season, 13-3-3, 7-1-2 in the ODAC. Roanoke finished their home portion of the 2010 schedule with an 8-0-2 mark, which is the fourth undefeated home record in the 65-year history of the program. The defensive unit pitched 14 blank sheets, matching the famous 1993 team that advanced to the national quarterfinals and won a school-record 20 games.
