Allison just completed his 27th season guiding the Maroons' men's soccer program, leading them to their ninth ODAC championship. Roanoke posted a 13-5-1 overall record, including an 8-2-1 mark in league action to take possession of the top seed heading into the ODAC Tournament. Allison recently announced this would be his final season coaching the Maroons, although he will stay on as Roanoke's Director of Athletics. He will retire with a 309-162-40 (.644) career record, which includes 159 wins in ODAC contests. He has been named ODAC Coach of the Year eight times, including this season's accolade.
Carbaugh, a freshman from Blacksburg, Va., stepped right in to the Maroons' midfield as he started 17-of-19 games played. He registered eight points on the season on three goals and a pair of assists. Early in the season against Virginia Wesleyan, Carbaugh tallied not only his first collegiate goal, but it went for the game-winner as he found the back of the net in the 88th minute for a 3-2 RC win. His efforts helped lead Roanoke to the program's seventh appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, where he notched an assist in the Maroons' first round contest against Emory University.
Chris Conover, a senior for Dagsboro, DE, was named All-ODAC First Team defender for the second year in a row. Conover had an outstanding year as a defensive leader for the Maroons in 2012. He scored three goals against Washington & Lee to help clinch the top spot in the ODAC. Conover also made a goal line save during the Virginia Wesleyan contest, where the Maroons won 1-0 to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
A host of Maroons almost swept the All-ODAC Second Team forwards selection, as Patrick Bain, AJ Tierce and Brian White took up three of the four available spots. Bain, a Second Team All-South Atlantic Region and First Team All-ODAC selection in 2011, scored three goals and three assists in 2012. He finished the season with nine points, and two of his three goals were game winners. Tierce, a Third Team All-ODAC selection in 2011, led the Maroons in scoring seven goals and 17 points. He was tied for second on the team in assists with three. Tierce tallied five game winners this season, including a header goal to put the Maroons over Virginia Wesleyan 1-0 in the ODAC Championship game. White, a First Team All-ODAC selection and Second Team VaSID All-State in 2011, led Roanoke in assists with four, and was second on the team in scoring with five goals. White was also second in total points for the Maroons with 14. He also ranked second on the team in shots (33) and shots on goal (18).
Picking up Third Team All-ODAC honors for the Maroons were Carl Leist and Garrett Eldridge. Leist, an ODAC All-Academic selection in 2011, was a strong mainstay for the Maroons on the back line. His lone goal of the season came in the opening contest against Gwynedd-Mercy in the Roanoke Invitational. Leist finished the season with nine shots, six of which were on goal. Eldridge was the third leading scorer for the Maroons in 2012 with four goals. He was also ranked second on the team in assists (3) and third on the squad in total points (11). He also led the team in shots (34) and shots on goal (23).
