Roanoke Women's Hoops Picked Sixth in ODAC Poll

Salem, Va. – The Roanoke College Women's Basketball team has been picked sixth in the 2016-17 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Preseason Poll announced at the league's yearly media day on Thursday.

Head Coach Carla Flaherty returns senior Cary Beahm who last year earned D3hoops.com All-Region honors and was named First-Team All-ODAC.

Beahm ranked third in the ODAC in scoring at 18.2 points per game. Her 8.2 rebounds per game was seventh and her 59.5 FG%  was tops in the ODAC and ranked top-15 nationally in Division III, while her 174 made field goals was the most in the league and ranked 20th best in DIII .

Four teams earned at least one first place vote in the annual ODAC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll conducted by the league's head coaches. Guilford College stands atop the field, receiving nine top nods on the way to 116 total points. Reigning conference champion Lynchburg College sits second with 107 tallies including one first place vote, while Washington and Lee University and Emory & Henry College are separated by just six points at 98 and 92, respectively. They split the remaining two first place considerations.

Roanoke will open its season on November 15 when it welcomes Ferrum to the newly opened Cregger Center for a 7:00 p.m. game.
