BRISTOL, Tenn. --- Roanoke picked up its first win of the season against Milligan (TN), 2-0 on the road this afternoon. The Maroons are now 1-1 on the season.
Rebekah Adams (Springfield, VA, West Springfield)and Stephanie Parenteau (Virginia Beach, VA, Kellam)each scored in the victory as fellow freshmen Carmen Graves (Christiansburg, VA, Christiansburg)and Ashley Manning (Katonah, NY, Somers)added assists on the afternoon.
In the 36th minute, Graves found Adams as each were credited with their first assist and goal, respectively to give the Maroons a 1-0 lead heading into the half.
Nine minutes into the second half, Parenteau scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Manning to give Roanoke an insurance goal to take a 2-0 lead. It was Manning's first career assist.
Lindsay Kooiman (Fredricksburg, VA, Mountain View)finished with eight saves on the afternoon for the Maroons.
The women will travel to Fayetteville, NC to play in the Soccer for a Cure Classic hosted by Methodist University. Roanoke will face the tournament host the Monarchs at 2:00 p.m. on Sat. Sept. 12. They will turnaround the following day to face Greensboro at 4:00 p.m.
