Women's Soccer Receives Votes in NSCAA Week Three National Poll
Roanoke received votes once again in the NSCAA Div. III Women's Soccer Week Three National Poll announced this afternoon. The women are third in the NSCAA South Atlantic Region Rankings as well.
The Maroons return to the national poll after receiving votes in the week one rankings. They have remained in the south region rankings all season, behind only TCNJ (4-1) and #4 Emory (5-0-1), which handed RC its only loss of the season.
Other ODAC Schools in the south region rankings are #4 Virginia Wesleyan (7-0), #5 Lynchburg (4-2), #8 Shenandoah (4-2) and #10 Washington and Lee (3-1-1). Shenandoah is a provisional ODAC-member in women's soccer this fall.
Roanoke has outscored its opponents, 12-4 this season while outshooting them, 91-60. Junior Rebekah Adams (Springfield, VA, West Springfield) leads the team in scoring with nine points (4g, 1a) in seven starts this season. Fellow junior Stephanie Parenteau (Virginia Beach, VA, Kellam) (2g, 2a) has six points followed by newcomer Sarah Valero (Staten Island, NY, Staten Island Academy) with five points (2g, 1a). Junior Cindy Suttora (Long Island, NY, Our Lady of Mercy Academy) has chipped in two goals as well, both game-winners.
The women will square off against crosstown foe, Hollins University in ODAC action on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Kerr Stadium.
