FREDERICKSBURG - The Roanoke Women's Soccer team defeated Mary Washington, 1-0 in their regular season finale on Tuesday. The Maroons end regular season at 13-4-1, 8-3 ODAC while Mary Washington falls to 8-6-2.

Both teams played an even and scorless first 45-minutes of action. The game winning goal, however, came in the 49th minute, when Carmen Graves (Christiansburg, VA, Christiansburg) headed the ball across the goal line before the Eagles could clear the ball. With this goal, Graves picks up her team high eighth goal of the year.

The two teams were tied in shots 9-9, but the Maroons put one more shots on goal, 4-3. Carolyn Sarbacher (Dunkirk, MD, Northern) played all 90 minutes in net and blocked three shots.

The Maroons hold the #3 seed in the ODAC tournament and will play the #6 seed Guilford in the Quarterfinals on Saturday Oct. 29. Roanoke will host this contest and the time of the game is still to be determined.
