Maya Kantor was named to the 2011 NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region Team announced this afternoon. This is the second-straight season that she has garnered this honor, earning third-team recognition.

Kantor, a sophomore, anchored the backfield for the women's soccer team in her second season as a starter. The 5-2 defender had her only assist and shot on goal of the season against Randolph-Macon in the 3-0 win (10/22). The two-time First-Team All-ODAC selection registered a season-best three shots, all in the second half against nationally-ranked Lynchburg (10/12). Kantor led the defensive unit to 12 shutouts this fall.

The Maroons finished the season 14-5-2, including an 8-3 mark in the ODAC. They advanced to the programs third NCAA Appearance in its 27-year history. The others were in 1998 and 2007. They fell to Centre in penalty kicks, 8-7 in the first round of the tournament at Emory University in Atlanta Nov. 12.
