Five Maroons Earn All-ODAC Honors in 2012 Women's Soccer Poll
FOREST, Va. --- Three Marlins took home major honors as part of the 2012 ODAC Women's Soccer Awards on Tuesday morning. Virginia Wesleyan College senior defender Krista Witmer was named the ODAC Player of the Year, while classmate Jess Edelman collected the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award. VWC freshman Kerry Knauss was tabbed the ODAC Rookie of the Year. Bridgewater College head coach Mike Van Horn earned ODAC Coach of the Year laurels.

Five Maroons were named to All-ODAC teams at the end of the 2012 season. Stephanie Parenteau was named first team All-ODAC, while Carmen Graves and Maya Kantor were named second team All-ODAC and Rebekah Adams and Carolyn Sarbacher garnered third team All-ODAC honors.

Stephanie Parenteau, a senior from Virginia Beach, VA, was named to the All-ODAC team for the third year in a row. She was named to the All-ODAC third team in 2010 and 2011. Parenteau ranked third on the team in goals scored (9) and total points (27), while tying for first in assists (9). She was second on the team in shots, taking 59, 27 of which were on goal. Parenteau scored two game-winners in 2012, one over Guilford (9/12) and another against Randolph (9/29).

Graves, a senior from Christiansburg, VA, was slated for first team All-ODAC honors in 2011. She finished the 2012 campaign with 13 goals and seven assists, first and third on the team, respectively. Graves was third on the team in shots with 48, with 60% of those finding the face of the goal. Graves was ODAC Player of the Week for the week ending September 16th. In that week, she scored seven points, including a goal against then #2 ranked Emory University.

Also with second team honors was Maya Kantor, a Junior from New City, New York. Kantor tallied two assists, and proved to be a major force in the Roanoke defense during the 2012 season. This is her third time being named to the All-ODAC team, after being on the first team in 2011, and second team in 2010. Kantor was also named to the NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region and VaSID All-State team in 2011.

Rebekah Adams, a senior from Springfield, VA, earned third-team accolades in 2012. She has been named All-ODAC every year at Roanoke, including second team in 2010 and 2011, and third-team in 2009. Adams led the Maroons in goals (13), assists (9), points (35), shots (60) and shots on goal (32). She also tallied a team-high four game winning goals, which included a game where she netted a hat-trick in a 6-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite.

Carolyn Sarbacher was named third-team in her sophomore year at Roanoke College. She started in goal for all 19 games for the Maroons, and played 1442 minutes between the posts. Sarbacher posted three shutouts during the season, and had a save percentage of 77.8%
