ASHLAND � The Roanoke College women's soccer team won its second straight game over the weekend, defeating Randolph-Macon, 4-0 on Saturday.� The Maroons now have a record of 4-6-1; 2-3 in the ODAC, while the Yellow Jackets sit with a mark of 4-6; 2-3 in ODAC play.
This is the second consecutive game that the Maroons have posted four or more goals against their opponents.� The last time the Maroons did this was in the middle of the 2012 season, defeating Sewanee and Randolph both by the score of 4-0.� This is also Roanoke's second straight shutout victory.
Abbe Guarino tallied the Maroons first goal of the game at the 19:30 mark in the contest, scoring off of an assist by Addie Glazzard.� Glazzard dished out a second assist in Roanoke's next goal, as Nathalie Torres scored just eight minutes later, giving the Maroons a 2-0 lead.� The Maroons tallied their third goal of the half under six minutes after the last goal.� Sara Dorrance found the back of the net off of a pass from Courtney Yoke.� Roanoke entered halftime with a 3-0 advantage.
Roanoke came out hot after the halftime period as the Maroons scored just 28 into half, as Caitlin Ashley snuck one past the keeper.� Roanoke's fourth goal would the last of the contest for both teams, as the Maroons won 4-0 over the Yellow Jackets.
The Maroons outshot the Yellow Jackets 13-6 in the contest, with Roanoke holding a 7-3 shots on goal advantage.� Ashley Barnes led the Maroons in total shots with three, followed by Caitlin Ashley with two.� Eight separate players finished with one shot each.� Nathalie Torres' goal in the first half pushed her ahead as the Maroons' leading scorer, with three goals on the season.� Addie Glazzard tied with Lauren O'Brien and Marlana Barnard with a team high two assists.� Carolyn Sarbacher played all 90 minutes in net and tallied three saves.
Roanoke returns to action on Tuesday, October 8th as they travel to Lynchburg to take on Randolph College.� That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
