How it Happened
- Roanoke got its first goal in the 33rd minute when a streaking Courtney Yoke was able to send a crossing pass into the box that E&H keeper Kayla Wright got a hand on butWhitaker was there and knocked the ball in with her chest.
- RC had a chance to double its lead three minutes into the second stanza when Whitaker played a long cross field pass to Taylor Sayegh who crossed a pass that Marlana Barnard volleyed but Wright was able to make a diving stop.
- The Maroons went up 2-0 when Whitaker passed the ball to Sayegh who served the ball towards the net which Wright misplayed and ended up in the back of the goal.
- With 15 minutes to go in the match, Adelyn Fitzgerald had an opportunity to add to the RC lead, but her blast from just inside the box rang off the post and stayed out of the net.
- RC held a 21-2 advantage in shots and took six corner kicks on the night.
- Wright finished with six saves, while RC's Sarah Dvorak made one stop in the shutout win.
