Caitlyn Long Named Second-Team All-ODAC in Volleyball
Senior Caitlyn Long (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring)was named Second-Team All-ODAC in volleyball announced this weekend during the ODAC Tournament. It's the second-straight season that she was named to the all-conference team.
Long, a Cave Spring product, was named team captain this fall and led the Maroons in assists (745), second in digs (454) while totaling 61 kills, 18 service aces and 17 total blocks. She was named to the 2009 Maroon Classic and 2009 ODAC All-Tournament teams in her final collegiate season. Her 454 digs this season was the third-highest in a single-season at Roanoke in addition to her 114 games played, which is third on that list.
As the school's record-holder in career digs, the libero/setter finished third in ODAC History in that category with 1,709, while ranked all-time at Roanoke in career games played (413/2nd), matches played (121/2nd) and assists (1,405/5th).
The Maroons finished 15-17 and advanced to the ODAC Championship game, the fourth in program-history. They knocked off eight-time defending ODAC Champions, Washington & Lee and #3 seed Lynchburg to advance to the title game for the first time since 2001.
