Macey Tyree '15 joins Roanoke College Volleyball Staff
Roanoke College Volleyball coach Blair Trail '99 has added her former player, Macey Tyree '15 to her staff announced this week. Tyree, who graduated this spring from Roanoke, will replace former RC alum Maggie Wagner '11 as Trails' assistant this fall. She will be responsible for all aspects of practice planning, scouting, recruiting and player development.

"Macey's relationship with the girls will be a positive aspect to our program," said Trail. "She already knows so much about the history and where we are striving to be. Macey (Tyree) has a vast amount of knowledge for the game and for Roanoke College along with the surrounding area, which will help our recruiting. Her calm personality will make her approachable with her former teammates, making her a valuable addition to our staff."

Tyree was a three-year starter for the Maroons under Trail from 2012-14. She played on the volleyball club team as a freshman at Virginia Tech prior to Roanoke. In only three years at RC, she finished her career ranked ninth all-time in digs (852) and 14th in kills (586). Tyree was second on the squad in digs in each of her three seasons. She led the Maroons in aces her first two years and was second in kills her junior year. Her 346 digs as a junior is among the top-10 in a season at Roanoke. In her three seasons, she led the Maroons to an improved overall record, including the programs' first 20-win season in five years.

"I'm sad that coach Wagner is leaving, but excited to be back at my alma mater," said Tyree. I'm looking forward to experiencing the coaching side of the game alongside coach Trail. I want to further contribute to the volleyball program and share what I learned in my three years at Roanoke College," said Tyree.

Tyree, a local product from Lord Botetourt High School, resides in Roanoke. Playing for the Cavaliers, she was named the 2009 and 2010 Blue Ridge District Player of the Year, including Region III Player of the Year honors as a junior. Tyree was a two-time All-Timesland player, as the three-sport athlete holds the school-record in career kills at LBHS (1,037). Tyree, who played in high school and college with sister McKenzie, played basketball and soccer for Lord Botetourt. In soccer, she was named Second-Team All-Timesland as a senior.

The Maroons will open up the season against North Carolina Wesleyan at the C. Homer Bast Center on September 4th at 6:30 PM.
